BNUBS Held Themed Party Lecture on "Establishing and Practicing a Correct attitude towards Performance"
Time :2026-05-07

To thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on establishing and practicing a correct attitude towards performance, and to further advance thematic education, the Second-Level Party School of the Business School (BNUBS) at Beijing Normal University (BNU) held a themed Party lecture titled Establishing and Practicing a Correct attitude towards Performance on April 29, 2026. The lecture was delivered by Sun Zhijun, Party Secretary of BNUBS, and attended by over 170 faculty and student Party members as well as Party admission activists.

Aligned with the central authorities’ requirements for launching the Party-wide education campaign on fostering a correct view of performance, Secretary Sun noted that this initiative is guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirits of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and subsequent plenary sessions. It upholds the principles of governing for the public, working for the people’s well-being, making scientific decisions, and taking solid actions, urging Party members and cadres to seek truth from facts and deliver high-quality development through tangible results.

Secretary Sun systematically elaborated on five core questions: what constitutes a view of performance, what kind of performance to pursue, how to achieve it, why a correct view of performance matters, and how university teachers and students can practice it. He emphasized that a view of performance represents the fundamental value orientation for Party members and cadres in governance, work, and entrepreneurship. The essence of a correct view of performance is wholeheartedly serving the people, with its core lying in promoting public well-being. In contrast, a misguided view of performance manifests as eagerness for quick success, falsification, and vanity projects.

The lecture deepened understanding through both positive and negative cases. On the positive side, it cited Zhejiang’s Double-Eight Strategy and Green Rural Revival Program (Qianwan Project)The State Council Information Office of the People's Republic of China, showcasing how successive provincial Party committees and governments adhered to a consistent blueprint to achieve ecological improvement, urban-rural integration, and common prosperity—efforts that earned the UN Champions of the Earth Award. On the negative side, it analyzed typical problems such as illegal construction, ecological damage, reckless borrowing, data fraud, and one-size-fits-all policies on farmland, revealing the severe consequences of a distorted view of performance.

Secretary Sun stressed that establishing and practicing a correct view of performance hinges on three key points: The first is to prioritize people’s well-being as the ultimate performance, with delivering tangible benefits to the public as the benchmark. The second is to pursue high-quality development, fully and faithfully applying the new development philosophy. The third is to embrace the spirit of "success requires my dedication, though not necessarily in my tenure", delivering results through hard work, strengthening guidance via assessment, and ensuring accountability through full and strict Party governance.

Addressing faculty and student Party members, Secretary Sun emphasized that young Party members, while not holding leading positions, must also uphold a correct view of performance, academic ethics, and career values. They should consciously oppose academic misconduct, reject quick-fix mentalities, and avoid formalism. Upholding rigorous scholarship, integrity, and social service as their pursuits, they should integrate a correct view of performance into academic research, social practice, and career development, securing the first button of life.

The lecture featured a clear theme, detailed cases, and practical relevance, deepening participants’ understanding of a correct view of performance. Attendees expressed their commitment to strengthening ideals, enhancing service awareness, seeking truth from facts, and taking solid actions. They vowed to guide their studies and work with a correct view of performance, fulfill their responsibilities, stay true to their original aspirations, foster a pragmatic work style, and drive high-quality development of the school through tangible results.
